Superhealthy Ginger and Turmeric shot!

We are in the middle of fall and heading straight into winter! So many people get a cold in this period, and we’ll share with you one of our best tips for staying healthy while everyone gets the sniffles. The secret is, ginger and turmeric shot (and C and D vitamins)! Making your own ginger shots is super easy and way better than buying them in a store.

What you need to do superhealthy Ginger and Turmeric shot:

  • Fresh ginger root
  • Fresh turmeric root
  • Lemon
  • Water or juice
  • A magic bullet (we love it and use it a lot!) or a blender

What to do:

  • Peel the ginger and turmeric root, the skins of these roots is so thin so a secret tip here is to peel it with a small spoon, that way you only remove the skin.
  • Cut the ginger and turmeric root
    • Be aware that the turmeric has a very strong yellow color and can color your cutting board etc, and your hands will turn a bit yellow. Wash your hands straight after so you don’t get the yellow color on anything, it’s hard to get off.
  • Remove the lemon peel and chop up the lemon into squares (remove the stones)
    • Fun fact! Did you know that if the clementine has stones in it, it has been exposed to cross-pollination and could have grown next to lemons which does have stones.
  • Put the lemon, turmeric and ginger root in the blender or magic bullet and add some water or juice. If you have any you can also add blueberries or raspberries.
  • When it’s all blended and soft use a strainer and let the water run off into a cup, bowl, small glasses etc.
  • Your ginger shot is now finished! The excess ginger and turmeric that’s in the strainer can be used for tea! Just add it in a pot and add warm water, its super good!

If you don’t have a blender or magic bullet you can grate the ginger with a kitchen grater, add it in a bowl, squeeze the lemon over and stir it all together. Then pour of the water as described above.

So there is your superhealthy ginger and turmeric shot! Hope it keeps you healthy and going all winter long!

PS. Everyone should be careful with the daily intake of ginger, and should do appropriate research to understand hos much or little ginger fits into your daily diet.
